Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 1 August 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") forms part of the Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses the vCon Ledger website or service ("the Service"). It exists so the Service stays safe, lawful and available.

1. General

Do not use the Service to do anything unlawful, or anything that harms the Service, us, other users, or third parties. If you are not sure whether something is allowed, ask us first at nick@myst.ky.

2. Data you submit

You must:

  • have a lawful basis to send us every record you submit, including any personal data it contains;
  • submit only data you are entitled to submit — not data obtained by interception, scraping or breach;
  • send the minimum personal data needed to price the event. Do not put special-category data (health, biometric, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade-union membership, sex life or sexual orientation), payment card numbers, or government identity numbers into records or free-text fields;
  • not submit deliberately falsified records, replayed records intended to distort billing, or records fabricated to test another party's systems without their permission.

3. Prohibited uses

You must not use the Service to:

  • break any law, regulation or sanctions regime that applies to you or to us;
  • infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity or contractual rights;
  • bill for services that are themselves unlawful, or to support fraud — including traffic pumping, artificial inflation of traffic, wangiri, SIM-box bypass, or any scheme designed to generate usage that a party did not genuinely incur;
  • launder revenue, evade telecommunications regulation, or misrepresent the origin of traffic;
  • store or transmit malware, or content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory or abusive;
  • process material that sexually exploits children. We have zero tolerance here: we will terminate access immediately and report to the relevant authorities.

4. Anti-spam

Do not use the Service, or data derived from it, to send unsolicited bulk email, SMS or calls, or to support anyone who does. Any messaging usage you submit for billing must have been sent in compliance with applicable anti-spam and telecoms marketing rules.

5. Platform integrity

You must not:

  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach its security or authentication, without our prior written permission;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, including denial-of-service attacks or deliberately abusive request volumes;
  • circumvent rate limits, quotas, bot protection or access controls;
  • attempt to access another party's data, accounts, records or charges;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile or resell the Service except where the law expressly allows.

We welcome good-faith security research. Email nick@myst.ky before you start, and give us a reasonable chance to fix anything you find before disclosing it.

6. Fair use of a prototype

Release 0.1 is a shared prototype with finite capacity. Keep submission volumes to what you and we have discussed, and tell us before you load-test. We may apply rate limits or quotas to protect availability for everyone.

7. Enforcement

If we believe you have breached this AUP we may warn you, throttle or suspend access, remove or block data, or terminate your access — depending on severity and risk. Where the breach is serious, or where the law requires it, we may act immediately and without notice, and may report the matter to the authorities.

We will try to give notice and a chance to fix things where it is safe and lawful to do so.

8. Reporting

To report abuse, a security issue, or anything on this page, email nick@myst.ky.
